Shearing is done, harvesting is finished and school is over for the year.
Still a few mobs of sheep to shift around but we can have a bit of a break for a while.
Hopefully a chance to train some much neglected dogs.
Christmas is almost upon us though and as usual I have not done any christmas shopping. Sigh!
I am all over christmas already, it gets worse every year, the crowds, the sales, everyone rushing madly around and maxing out their credit cards so they take most of next year to pay it back. Ridiculous
I wonder what Jesus would think, watching people celebrate his birthday in this way.
Where is the peace, the joy and the love?

I have a new canine pack member. Blondie the Kelpie. From eastern states bloodlines, I don’t have details yet.

She is sweet natured but definitely blonde at times. Doesnt concentrate for very long, but is only a young dog. She is just balancing up on the sheep at the moment and not doing too much.
Ginger is looking good, very calm and wide on sheep, with minimal movement which I like.
Clover/Chloe ( we changed her name to Chloe as Clover rhymes with over which is one of my directional commands. One must really think before naming a pup) is a bit the opposite, full on and close which is fine, as we need all sorts for farm work and even trialling.

Caleb gave me a fright recently when he hit his stifle on the edge of the cement bridge while heading a mob of sheep. I thought it was broken, he hit it so hard and it made such a noise.
He just stood there with the leg dragging and I had heart failure. After Balto’s long recovery I thought not again, but thankfully he has recovered fully. He is one tough dog.
Speaking of Balto and heart failure, he is running off lead now and nearly giving me seizures everytime he does one of his cutting horse turns. Sometimes I close my eyes. He seems fine though, very fit now and almost ready to work. It is really hard to slow him down, he is so happy to be free again.

My daughter had her last ever day at Darkan Primary School and next year will start boarding school at Bunbury Cathedral Grammar. Exciting but a bit nerve racking, it will be strange indeed not to have her around all the time. Thankfully Bunbury is not too far and we will see her often and she can come home most weekends.

Sam wearing her 'signed' shirt.
Two of Yindi’s pups have gone to new homes. We will keep the tri coloured male. We have named him Tambo and he is a very placid pup although a little shy. We still have two black and white males for sale. They are both outgoing and friendly.

The weather has been dry but not too hot, in fact quite cool nights. Windy, however which is always a nuisance due to the bare dusty ground. So everything in the house is covered in dust, something we learn to live with this time of year.
Perhaps we will get summer rain , it seems everyone else in AU is geting heaps of rain except us.
Not that we really need it now, but a little is ok to settle the dust and give the garden a drink.
New year is also closing in. Time goes too fast, it is so hard to keep up.
