The pups have finally arrived. Driftz went into labour in the early hours of Sunday the 2nd and by 9.30 the next morning six puppies were born. No problems except the first one was very slow, so I almost started to panic but there was nothing to worry about.

There are five females and one male which is excellent, and they have rather a lot of white on them. The photos are on the gallery page and I will have more as they grow.

Tomorrow we finish shearing the grown sheep then we have the rest of the week off and the following week we will shear the lambs. It will be great to finish, we are all very tired. It would be much more difficult though, without my dogs.

Last Fri I bought a large mob into a closer paddock with Dolly, Lara and Rio. It was a big paddock with a lot of bush and we had to bring the sheep over a road as well. The dogs did a great job, especially as the sheep kept heading for the scrub. It took us nearly three hours by the time we had mustered the whole paddock. Jobs like these are so much easier with good dogs to help.

So my dogs will soon have a rest as well, although I am sure they would prefer not to. It is really the ultimate reward for the dog, to be able to work. If it wasn't, they simply would not do the job.

So I thank God for working dogs.
